Rossetti in this poem describes how her heart is like referring to the nature around her. As she tells the readers that her ‘heart is … thickest fruit’ , at first thought it does give a thought to the readers that her heart is a big red one like a big red apple as now her ‘love is come’ to her. She also states that ‘her heart … halcyon sea’, which may mean that love is vast as ‘halcyon’ refers to calmness, which is gained by Rossetti as she got the love of her life and here it is a halcyon sea proving it is vast. She also gives another simile comparing her heart with a ‘singing bird’. This causes the readers to think deeper into the meaning of these phrases thus memorably conveying her feeling about love to the readers.
